Anthony Joseph was born in Trinidad. He is a poet, novelist, academic and musician. He holds a PhD in Creative and Life Writing from Goldsmiths and lectures in Literature, Critical Theory and Creative Writing at De Montfort University, Leicester. He was the Colm Toibin Fellow in Creative Writing at the University of Liverpool in 2018 and was awarded a Jerwood Compton Poetry Fellowship in 2019. Anthony is the author of four poetry collections: Desafinado, Teragaton, Bird Head Son and Rubber Orchestras. He has also written three novels, The African Origins of UFOs, Kitch, published by Peepal Tree Press in 2018 and The Frequency of Magic forthcoming in 2019. Kitch was shortlisted for the Encore Award 2019 and The Republic of Consciousness Prize 2019 and longlisted for the 2019 OCM Bocas Prize for Caribbean Literature. As a musician he has released seven critically acclaimed albums. The most recent, People of the Sun, was released in 2018. He lives in London.
