Anthony Joseph was born in Trinidad. He holds a PhD in Creative and Life Writing from Goldsmiths and lectures in Literature, Critical Theory and Creative Writing at Birkbeck College, London and at the University of Liverpool where he is the Colm Toibin Fellow in Creative Writing. Anthony is the author of four poetry collections: Desafinado, Teragaton, Bird Head Son and Rubber Orchestras. He has also written three novels, The African Origins of UFOs, Kitch, published by Peepal Tree Press in 2018 and The Frequency of Magic forthcoming in 2019. Kitch is shortlisted for the Encore Award 2019 and was shortlisted for The Republic of Consciousness Prize 2019 and longlisted for the 2019 OCM Bocas Prize for Caribbean Literature. As a musician he has released seven critically acclaimed albums. The most recent, People of the Sun, was recorded in Trinidad, London and France, and released in 2018. He lives in London.
